Does anyone know a good tool chest like the metal craftsman ones with wheels on it that go for only a few hundred bucks?

Are there other brands I should look at? I went to sears yesterday and I couldn't believe how much these things cost. I think they are having a Father's Day sale on one this sunday, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any recommendations.

Iono, but think about how you're going to organize your tools before you buy. I made a bad choice with my chest. Some of them come with premolded container drawers for things like sockets and stuff and I really like that.

I actually just bought a 263 piece toolset from sears, pretty hot deal right now. anyway, it has a mini box with 4 drawers that I will just set into the chest, so I don't need the premolded container drawers. I had planned on just taking out the plastic drawers and setting them in the chest. Should work out pretty well.

Where have you seen any with the pre-molded slots for tools? I like those and have never seen any, thanks!

Sears sells them

I have the Sears homeowners series of chest and it's ok. I don't roll it around much, so I didn't spend the money on the really nice ones.

Do you want a roll arount type? For now you could just buy the bottom section and set what you have on top. Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, etc all have them starting at around $50 and going way way up.

Yeah, I'd like the roll around type with a top box that goes on it. Do you think one of those stores would be the best place to get one?

If you have a local radio shack that's closing, they're selling the store fixtures. The electronic parts bins make AWESOME toolchests, have wheels, and are only $175.

Lowes has a nice rolling toolchest for about $90. It does not bearings for drawers. but it is still a good deal.

I'd just hit all their websites and figure out which one has the best bang for the buck. I don't think brand really matters here. Once you get into the really highend stuff then it might but for home use I wouldn't worry about it. My cheapo Craftsman one is about 10 years old now and hasn't fallen apart yet.

Neg. They're similar in size and structure to a toolchest, but the drawers are much deeper, and stand about 5ft tall. There are like, 10 drawers or so in each. They're finished in a lovely flat gray, and have a nice place to put labels.

Spend the extra loot and get one that has ball bearing slides. I have had both and will never buy another without them.
