Best time to call Dell?

Aimster

Lifer
I need to call Dell about my graphic card in my laptop.

When is the best time to call? I ask because I want to avoid getting someone from another country.... It's difficult for me to understand them.

I am not sure with Dell but for most companies, the best time to call is during work hours. They have most the calls answered by domestic people. Never have had to call Dell although some woman with a latin American accent called me a few days ago to sell me a warranty on a laptop I just bought. No thanks, click.

Actually I just called Dell earlier this morning and had to wait 20 minutes on hold. I got India. He told me that most people work the night shift there because thats when everyone is up here.. I called at 10:30am. Based on what he said I would advise early morning N.A. time 🙂

I've had my Dell latpop for 2 years.. and i bought the 3 year complete care warranty on it. I would do it again in a heart beat. I've definitely gotten my money's worth with it.

Heh, it's worse over here. Not only are you speaking to someone that doesn't understand our language (you have to speak and understand English to get any help), you also have to pay what it'd normally cost to call to India (~?2,70/minute). Luckily, the only Dell thing I have is a monitor.

My last call to Dell to buy a heatsink for a server took around 45 minutes. I had researched and knew the part number before I ever picked up the phone, yet I had to convince some guy in India that I indeed wanted that part. Screw Dell. I will not be buying their products again.

I called at 3AM PST. I stay up late working on computer stuff, and that's the best time to call =).

0 hold time for my past 4 - 5 calls. One of which they ahd to conference call DHL about shipping a package and allowing me to pickit up.

This is significant improvement from last year. I was put on hold for like an hour at least. Thank goodness for the phones at work, speakerphone, etc...

Agreed, hold time has been significantly less lately. My client has been having a LOT of issues with his X1 and he has onsite warranty for it, so I'll call in, press speaker phone and continue to work. When someone starts talking I Just pick up the handset 😀

The only time I've spoke with Dell support was a few times on WTF was up with my monitor shipment (they later lied and said free NDA, came ground days later).

I used the Dell online chat. I never waited more than a couple of minutes and the support reps were helpful. It's certainly easier to understand a typed conversation from a foreigner, even if they aren't perfectly fluent with typing English. I would probably recommend this unless its an issue that would require/better suited for the phone.
