As many of you are probably painfully aware, many online retailers price gouge newly released products especially when they're hot items. Newegg seems to have gotten a bad reputation for this. Take for example, the QX9650 released by Intel two weeks ago, currently $300 above MSRP. Or the E6750 released 4 months ago, currently $10 above MSRP. This was also seen recently in the video card arena, when the 8800GTs started selling for $50 more only a few hours after they were released.
So I'm curious if anyone agrees with me when I say it would be a smart move to purchase this stuff the same day they're released, in an attempt to avoid the price gouging. Sort of like Black Friday, waiting at the front of the line to get the best deal you can find before it sells out. Except you would be waiting online to buy it first before the prices get jacked up. Any opinions/thoughts?
The reason I ask is because I was looking to buy a new processor and had my eyes set on the E6750. However, come January Intel plans to release their new Core 2 line, which is tempting (expected retail price of $183 for the E8400, which is cheaper and faster than the currently-priced E6750). But anyone who's been following the previous launches knows that there's no way in hell you're going to get an E8400 for $183. You're looking at least $230 if not more after the gouging starts. But if you could grab one before then, it would be a steal.
