Best Ti4200 card?

They're all pretty close in terms of performance when they are stock, but some cards are:

- Quieter than others

- Have more connections a la, VIVO, DVI, S-Video, etc....

- may have better warranty policies

- Maybe better suited for overclocking / or are OCed slightly to begin with

- Come with software, etc....

They are all pretty much the same. I wouldnt invest in a card that old though, its definitley on its way out

A few are selling for cheap on the forums so they aren't that bad of a deal. Besides why buy a new card now when a new architecture is coming out in spring? Used, older, cheaper makes the most sense right now.

My msi 4200 has been solid, but most are fairly similar. Unless you're looking for a particular feature that only one brand has, price would probably be one of the biggest concerns.

I tried two refurbs from Newegg, the first was a Gainward Golden Sample - it was DOA, the 2nd was an ASUS which died within 2 months... not sure if that is any indication

this is easy, albatron 4200 turbo smokes anything anyone else suggested.

Absolutely, mine does 305/690 all year long. Debating whether to sell it or just keep it cause it still pulls 13k on 3dmark01 compared to 16k on my FX5900.

I only have my Gainward, but it's excellent. Quiet fan, nice 2d output, etc. Only (small) gripe is the video card bios screen on bootup. But hey, half the cards show up that bios screen.

my asus 8420 deluxe has been great so far....overclock the heck out of it and it has been very stable so far.....

sorry to bring up an old thread, but is the gainward still the choice card even with the psod troubles it had? i'm in the market for a reliable video card that wont crap out on me for at least 4 years 🙂.

i had my used voodoo3500 for more than 4 years and i love it's reliabilty... just need a new card because xp doesn't like it much.

I used to own a 128mb Msi gf4 ti4200 8x with vivo which would overclock to 300/600 and gave me excellent performance. Even now it's overclocked performance simply wipes the floor with the fx5600 and the fx5600 ultra when aa/af aren't used.

Gainward all the way. Very hard to beat the features or the quality - overclockability among the best.

Aside from that, any brand with "tech" or "tek" in the name is also a good bet, i.e. Chaintech, Leadtek, others....

I have a ti 4200 and it's pretty nice, it also came with a software bundle 😀
This one looks pretty cool...but it's not as cheap as others.

MSI.. I had an MSI card. excellent overclocker, nice looking card, and stable. Gainward seems to have too many problems (I'd never risk getting a Gainward card, they seem to be very flakey)

I agree with nick..the albatron ti4200 turbo is the best ti4200 out there..plus it overclocks like a beast! Not even gainward's ti4200 can touch this card..

i give up. the albatron 4200 turbo KILLS any other 4200...

I Picked up a refurbed Gainward Ti4800 for under $100 that runs 330/680. Still cheaper than the Albatron 4200 Turbo can be found for.
