It's legal, but you have to buy it from a "research chem" site, where they can sell it for "research purposes" only.

Having said that, the best (and cheapest) you can buy online at any supplement store is a plain old epehdrine + caffeine stack.

 
The ECA stack. Various brands add various things to it, but it's these three ingredients that do the magic. I've heard good things about hydroxycut in particular. Just don't get the ephedra-free version; take out the most important ingredient and all you've got left is sh!t.
