I hate having to update a file and then opening my FTP client to upload the latest files. I've been using Putty and using SSH to log onto my server. Well, this comes at a cost and I prefer to have colors in my HTML. Staring at a B/W screen does things to your eyes after a couple of hours.

I've come across BBEdit and Textmate, but I know there are hidden gems out there.

I use a purchased copy of BBEdit, which has colored text, though the trial doesn't.

i mean, i dont know if this would violate the terms of use but couldnt you just add it in a text editor after the fact?

You've never actually used syntax highlighting, have you? It would be completely pointless if you had to do it manually.

some people redo the color scheming of their editors completely, so it's not unheard of. i'm not sure if BBedit allows you to add coloring manually, as I've never used the unregistered version. You can pick up a copy off of versiontracker though, and fnid out for y ourself.

It sounds like patboy and notfred are talking about adding coloring to the text like in MS Word (WYSIWYG style). It would be completely pointless and incredibly tedious to color your text manually as you're coding.
