What is considered to be the best-tasting chocolate in the world? I know that while I was in Australia, the natives scoffed at the merkins love of Hershey. Australian Cadbury brand was very rich and smooth. I like Godiva, but I don't care too much for chocolate candy with stuff inside, I like just plain chocolate.

Although judging is subjective, what brand do you like best?

Clarification: I was referring to the chocolate itself, not a candy bar with nuts and stuff.

Harry London is gooood stuff. I'd punch a nun for some right now.

I've only see it once anywhere other then the factory itself though, and that was Dillards a few years ago. They make these crispy rice candies (think nestle crunch bar in the shape of a ball) that aren't really all that good, and Dillards was selling thouse.

I think someone had one of those fund raiser things for their kids that was selling it too, but I can't remember that far back.

They don't use (as much) wax in their choclate, so the shelf life isnt that of a hershey bar, but honestly, I don't think I've ever had any last more then a couple days :D

I tend to agree with the reviews here:
http://www.hhhh.org/cloister/chocolate/reviews
However, I rank Callebaut Bittersweet higher than the Valrhona Noir Amer.
I have literally pounds of it on hand and use it for ALL my chocolate needs weather it is to go into a cheese cake or to be eaten straight.

Nestle makes excellent chocolate (try one of those plain chocolate bars in the red wrappers). Hersheys, by comparison, is waxy crap with a foul aftertaste. (The Hershey's "Symphony" bars are slightly better, but still not up to snuff.)

Wilbur Chocolate in Lititz, PA is known to be some of the best. I live 40 miles from Hershey and 1/4 mile from Wilburs. I never get sick of Wilbur's.
