Hi guys...

I am buying a new system... From what I've read so far I've decided against
P4... and not it appears T-Bird systems at 266 FSB wont be around for another month or so....

So what should I get now? A p3 1 Ghz? Or Athlon T Bird at 1.1 Ghz? I am confused in trying to compare all the ram speeds and FSB rates... which is simply faster?

Speed is the main issue... I dont mind paying 100$ more for a faster system...
Thanks guys.:)

For now, I'd say a Tbird 1.1 or 1.2GHz with a MicroStat K7T Pro2A. But the KT133A looks to be worth waiting for.

1.2 thunderbird, asus a7v, fop38(loud but works great!), a nice video card, IBM deskstar 75gxp hard drive(the best), quality cdrom and burner, plenty of case fans:), 128 or 256 RAM(I like the stuff from mwave, its kingston PC150), sound blaster live! or something better

Any questions just post away!

You can easily build out a 1.2ghz Athlon system for that kind of cash, and you wouldnt be skimping either :)

These figures are not representative of prices I would pay or the hot deals forum ;)

1.2ghz Athlon/MSI K7T Pro2A will run you about 450 shipped
256MB ram will cost around 100 unless you opt for some of the cheap stuff, about 125 for the better stuff.
75GXP (30GB) will be about 140 w/out coupons.
GeForce 2 GTS is about 160.
Plextor 12x/10x/32x CD-RW will set you back about 200
Floppy will be 20 (yeah right)
85 for a good case.
50 for a good cd-rom (teac, etc)
about 50 for an SB live Value

Comes out to about 1250 + 100 for shipping.

Wow you can do that for under a grand if you actually try to find good deals :p

build my system...check my sig [click the link]. my system was 1700 but because it's been almost a month, prices on stuff have dropped. you can get the elsa gladiac geforce2 card for 130 [buy.com w/ coupon]. i don't think you need the soundblaster live platinum so save yourself the 100 bucks on the oem version unless the x-gamer because the software it comes with it are great.
