I'm 5'11 and weigh 135lbs. I want to know what the best supplements are for someone like me. Things that are healthy and will help me gain 15-20lbs in a somewhat short amount of time. I'm 17 if that matters... and I'm joining the army in about a year so I want to put on some fat so I can turn it into muscle because its always been hard for me- due to the lack of available fat to turn into muscle.

A diet program basically involves eating less and exercising more. A weight gain program like the one you have planned is eat more / exercise more.. That is it in a nutshell.

if you're 5' 11" with 135lb body weight, I doubt you have the body frame to put on much weight.

Try eating more beef and chicken.

Thats pretty much all I eat. Eating isn't really the problem which is why I want to know what some of you would recomend to help out... like shakes and stuff.

I was 6' at ~137lb...I'm close to 160 now, and should be 170-ish by the end of the year. Then again, I was really thin for my build/height.

I'm in the same position. 5'8 ~125lbs. I never had any regard whatsoever for what I eat, so if comes to be a ton of fatty or fast food, doesn't make a difference to me (though I try to eat fairly lean meats like chicken as well as a decent amount of fruits/veggies).

So.. I got a 10lb tub of weight gain powder from DPSnutrition.net. It was only ~$20 + shipping and 10lbs will probably last me 1-2 months with a couple shakes a day. One serving of the stuff I got provides nearly 1000 calories, most of it carbs, but a fair amount of protein and fat as well. I'm not concerned if weight I put on is fat since I have so little as it is. So I cut the 4 scoop serving to 2 scoops like twice a day, and eat all of my regular meals anyway. I just don't feel like I have enough of an appetite to get 3000+ calories a day so the powder is probably going to be helpful to gain weight. And I'm not even active really. The only exercise I get is the 5-10 minute walks to and from school a couple of times a day. So I just started using that powder, so I haven't really noticed any gains yet (since my weight generally flucuates +/- a few lbs anyway) but I'm hoping the ridiculous amount of carbs/calories from the powder will be enough to put on some fat! Bring on the fat!! :)

I'm almost the same height/weight as you are, 5'9" and around 130 lbs, and I've always been pretty skinny for someone my size, maybe I'll try that shake out.

I used to be 5'10" 110lbs. Now I'm up to 135lbs, and I'm hoping to be 140-150lbs by next year some time.

Your frame is probably like mine. Genetics and the fact that I ran track for 13 years has made me very skinny. I can't store fat. I used to be 4.3% body fat in HS, now I'm up around 9%.

Just lift a lot and drink protein. I'm hoping to 140lbs by the end of the year.

Oh, and like people have said before, fat doesn't turn into muscle. You can't just get fat and then start drinking creatine and hope to be buff. One kid on my hall tried that last year. He just got even bigger. Besides, with your build, like myself, you probably won't be able to get fat.

Try eating sticks of butter. I think someone found that it has one of the higest calories/mass ratio.

Optimum Nutrition is the best. I'm sure others will agree. Great mixability, and as far as protein shakes go, it tastes decent.

There's the plain old whey protein shakes, and then there's usually a kind that's 1.5-2x as expensive that has whey protein and some kind of time release protein mixture that kicks in during and after your work out too. At least that's how it was at GNC.

Remember to eat UNSALTED butter as well. Those extra minerals are just empty mass . . .

I prefer EAS Myoplex. If you want to gain more muscle and size, creatine, protein, and 17HD works well. My friend is using some stack program which he said is better than HD. When I have money in my budget i'll be trying that stuff. Remember..drink a lot of water.
