Best sub $20 fan for Ivy Bridge 3570K

Something better than stock and worth the trouble of installing (as the stock fan is super easy) is going to run you at least $30.

You can pay for a 3570K but a fan breaks the bank but you want to OC as well? Does it need to offer free massages as well?

Sorry, but you need to be realistic, you're obviously building a machine with some wants, you splurged on some parts, and the machine will only be as strong as the weakest link. Why would you spend that to throttle it with a bargain bin cooler.

Hi, what is the best sub $20 fan for an Ivy Bridge 3570K? I would like to OC to maybe a max of 4.5Ghz

Hyper 212+ which costs $30 ($20 AR) is good up to 4.2-4.4. If you want to pay less than $20 then you're good up to anything that can be achieved on stock volts IMO.

This should get you to 4.5:http://redirect.anandtech.com/r?url...duct.aspx?Item=N82E16835118059&user=u00000687 Scythe Mugen 3 $50. Weighs 826g with six heatpipes. 212+ is 626g with four heatpipes.

+1 for the 212

yet go $30 and buy the EVO as it's quite a bit better with IB.
(212's early reviews gave the + and EVO similar temps and criticised the EVO for costing $10 more ... but that was on SB' bigger die)

below $20 the only choice is the basic Intel hs. which isn't nearly as bad as they used to be.

I own a hyper 212+ and its a great cooler and it come with extra brackets to mount a second 120mm fan on it

There's also the Thermaltake HR2 Macho at $40, which is probably the best bang for the buck heatsink on the market; it has a 140mm fan and great cooling capabilities, while remaining silent. If you want to OC, it's -the- go-to-heatsink on a budget.
Current amazon.com price is 50 dollars, but some questionable shops on shopping.google.com show up with lower prices into the low 30s.

A cooler master 212 is like $30 and decent. I have a tx3 best buy edition by rocket fish basically. Lot better than stock and its like $10 on eBay or amazon market

Hyper 212, you can't go wrong with that price. lowest i've seen was $9.99 AR

+1

As others already mentioned you can usually find deals for around $20-$25.

Does anybody know how much better the evo is? Is it worth it? I might get one for a gaming system I´m building for my brother.

sorry for not replying, completely forgot about this thread, I've decided on a 212, however I moved to thunder bay Ontario, and this place only has a future shop. Shipping for these things usually kills the deals, do u guys know anywhere to get a 212 free ship?

not going to help you up in the frozen tundra, but the hyper212 is $10 AR at microcenter right now

Waarr, I might be able to pickup, but I'm 40 minutes from the border, but driving down 40mins and wasting gas at $1.14 a litre, its not worth it.

Thanks though, its probably cheaper to buy it at $30 here.

friend of mine use hyper212 for cold the ivy i7 3770k and does great job....for the price it has....
nothing extreme off course, but good enough!

I saw the Scythe Rasetsu for $30, I might get that one

What are your opinions on this one compared to the 212 and Evo?
