since 3dfx is gone (bummer) what would be the best non-3dfx card for a gaming only box that we play mostly glide games on? we are still using a v2 1000 SLI set-up and ive got about $ 150 bucks to to help us get out of the stone age . thanks in advance for any help .

I know that you said NON 3dfx card, but.....

You can pick up a V5 4500 or 5500. I have seen both cards for under $150 USED. Either card would be an improvement.

I guess there are new drivers for both cards, too.

You can get a v5 for about 150 new as well. Find a place with one cheap(try www.pricewatch.com and see what you get). Then call staples and price match it. Then goto techbargains pick up the $30 off $100 coupon and you will probally get one for 120-130ish.

Garrett.

ive been tempted to get a v5 5500 , im concerned about future support though . my local staples took all thier 3dfx stuff off the shelves when they folded (bummer again) i guess if we want to continue to play glide games we are stuck? is there anything out there that will play glide decently at all ? thanks for the posts .

You can't play glide without a 3dfx card.

Er didn't creative make the glide wrapper? Haven't heard much about that though.

Glide games are becomeing a bit aged, I would just hang on to one or both V2's to play Glide games on. Buy a nice GeForce or Radeon to play the rest of your games on.

thanks for the help folks . cubensis , whats gonna happen in a few months? a NVIDIA voodoo perhaps??? wouldnt that be sweet!! i can only dream.
