Best Sub $100 Printer?

I'd prefer an hp, but canon seems ok. What would be a good choice as I don't want to get a dell printer with my new laptop.

You'll save money in the long run by picking up a $200 laser printer. My Brother HL-5140 has been running like a champ on the original toner cartridge for almost 2 years now.

What about the $100 laser printers? They claim to have a starter toner but still you can print plenty of pages with that. I am also looking for a sub $100 printer and wondering between an inkjet and a laser. I need to print around 50 or so pages a month, sometimes more and sometimes less. Basically, I need a printer for school and other text documents.

If you NEED color, get an inkjet, otherwise get a laser. Pretty simple. You can usually find a cheap Minolta, Brother, or Samsung laser on sale for like $60.

I do not need color, so I will get a laser, thank you. Generally, which brand seems to be good quality making lasers? I have usually used HP printers and they have been great. I'm currently looking at Samsung B&W lasers. How is the SAMSUNG ML-2010?

Awesome, that means its working its hardest to produce great results . As long as it does the job and gives me 50 or so pages I need per month, I'll be ok with it. Seriously, for a person who really needs to print around 50 pages a month, is a laser worth it?

I got a HP personal laserjet a few years ago and never looked back. Inkjets suck in comparison.

All laserjets are good for are effiency, that is why business have them.

Inkjets sucks? A photographer probably would think otherwise.

Take a look at the Brother HL-2070N. It's about 100 dollars and it has an ethernet port so you can connect it to your router.

I have an oldish HP Laserjet 1012 and I love it. No complaints at all. I also had a Samsung 2010 and I did not like it nearly as much (louder, slower, higher power consumption, etc.).

Aside from being loud & a bit slow on the draw (warm-up to first page printed leaves a little to be desired), it's been a great printer for me for the past 5-6 months or so. I'm still on the original toner cartridge, too, after about 800 pages printed. I'd recommend it if you can live with the noise & its slight pokiness.

I'm an amateur photgrapher and I prefer prints from the lab vs. messing with an inkjet. It's more economical for me.

I've had my HP 1020 laser for about 14 months now. I've run just about 3 reams of paper through it doing school papers and whathaveyou. This is all on the original toner cartridge which is rumored to only be half the capacity of a retail cartridge. I'd say 1500 pages on a half cartridge is pretty good!

I wouldn't run without a laser anymore. It's just so efficient. You don't necessarily need to get a HP 1020 (although I highly recommend it), but you really should get a laser for school work. The text is much sharper and if you feel you need an inkjet for color, you can always pick one up on the cheap later. That's actually what I intended on doing but I've just never really felt the need.

The 1020 I'm pretty sure actually is a full cartridge. There is a 1018 which is clocked a bit slower and has a half full cartridge.
