I had a discussion with my buddy the other day about how even "Stupid" rap has become even worse than before. At least the "Stupid" rap from the 90s had words that were understandable. Nowadays, I had songs with random yelling "yahhh" and that's a song.

the songs that come into mind are:

Still Fly - Big Tymers
Big That A$$ Up - Juvenile

What constitute "stupid" rap? Bismarkie? Sir Mix-a-lot? Will Smith?

Anyway, I do notice a trend that rap & hip hop cater to more a club & dance setting. The "angster" rap of the 80s & the "ganster" rap of the 90s slowly dwindle away to make way for club/dance rap. Having gone to the clubs in the early 2000s I realize this. Sadly the emphasis for club/dance is not lyrics. Simple chorus and a lot of beat, but club goers eat it up like crazy.

That's the best rap song period. Shouldn't be qualified as "stupid" rap, though.

I'll throw my vote to Young MC - Bust a Move.

Edit: Oh wait, Young MC might be late 80s. Sorry.

Don't remember the title but this should ring a bell:

"Let me hear you say uhhhhhh!" - Master P

One of the dumbest songs I've ever heard.

Edit: Not sure if this was late 90's or early 2000's...I think it was in the 90's.

:music: I'm a freak, I like the girls with the boom. I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom... :music:

The Humpty Dance kicks ass. But wasn't that the 80s? Hammer and Vanilla Ice dominated the silly rap scene in the early 90s. But there's no topping Kris Kross for sheer preposterousness. Songs about missing the school bus were bad enough, let alone the knack for prose they display on their big hit "Jump":

:music: I'll make ya jump, jump, wiggle and shake your rump, cause I'll be kicking the flavor that makes you wanna jump :music:

No, that's not the chorus. No one really knows why they thought it was a good idea to rhyme the word jump three times... Catchy ass song though!

ATLiens and Southernplayalistic are both better albums than Aquemini, and that's just sticking to Outkast. I could easily think of ten hip hop CDs better than Aquemini. In fact, just for a lark, let me try.

Nas - Illmatic
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton
Common - Resurrection
Wu-Tang - Enter the 36 Chambers
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick
2Pac - Me Against the World
Ice Cube - Amerikkka's Most Wanted
Aesop Rock - Labor Days
RJD2 - Deadringer
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Non-Prophets - Hope
Cannibal Ox - Cold Vein

There's much better stuff out there than Aquemini. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album, but it really seemed to mark a downturn for Outkast from their classic freshman and sophomore efforts.
