Hi All,
I'm needing to plan for a database cluster.
I need two different arrays.
The cluster will be 2 Microsoft SQL Server boxes in an Active/Passive sql cluster.
This requires a network based quorum disk that is shared between each server to hold session data, etc.
I need something fast, that has redundancy, and is reliable. The entire quorom disk doesn't need to be more than 20GB (maybe even as small as 1GB).
I was thinking about just getting two NAS boxes that can be directly connected to mirror each other, and using drives as small as 9GB in an array. like 5x9GB in a Raid 5 array.
Along with this, I also need a high speed NAS/Direct attach storage cluster that can hold up to 500GB. I've seen some Supermicro machines and dell machines that can hold up to 20 or so disks. So I was thinking of doing like 16x36GB in raid 5, with a few hot spares, using 15k drives. This storage device would need to connect to the servers via iSCSI.
Does anybody have any recommendations?
