Best starter case for modding?

I'm looking for a case to mod. I want to do everything myself, including window and graphics, so I'm looking for a great case, but with no preinstalled mods on it, including windows and/or fan/blowholes.

Which cases do you recommend? I'm looking for something around a mid-size to full tower ATX compatible. Thanks.

Best starter case for modding?

If you want to just do it all yourself, you could get a cheapo generic case to maximize your modding experience. :) You'll learn real quick what types of things you like and dislike about the case. I built my rig out of a cheap CodeGen mATX tower case. Lots of fun modding. I'm thinking maybe you'll be happier with the finished product when you know YOU did all the work making it perform and look better, rather than buying one that already performs good but you only made it look nicer.

Just my opinion.

Kingwin 424 series (from newegg et al.)/Beantech igloo series (from svcompucycle.com et al.).
For lower cost, Compucase 6A19 series (see coolcases.com).

Depending of the modding intended and your skills, any older/used case should be fine. It's less frustrating if you screw up. :p Plus, it can be painted/cutted without really worrying about screwing up.
