I currently have an older mother board with Sata II and am looking to buy a SSD, I use my computer for work and gaming so reliability and gaming performance are important.

I am looking for a 120+ gig drive, I assume that one of the new drives like the Intel 510 would be a waste due to my Sata Speeds.

Drives that are currently high on my list are the following, but I am open to recommendations.

Intel X25-M: Reliable, a lot of people say that in real world use it is faster then faster rated drives, it also has a rebate atm with Newegg.

SAMSUNG 470: I have heard this mentioned as the best kept secret in SSD's

OCZ is not on my list, I was recently a victim of their 25nm stunt and do not wish to give them any money.

I think Intel X25-M will outlive all SSDs of this gen.

Since it is cheapest of tier-1 drives of that size, I say it is no brainer. Crucial C300, which is faster in some benchmarks, is at $260.

What about the unreleased Intel 320?

Although since you mentioned it, all the reviews and benchmarks of the Samsung 470 make it seem like it is the best drive out there right now.

I just picked up a 64GB Samsung 470 and it is a very nice drive.

AS SSD score.

Your scores with a 120GB drive should be better AFAIK the bigger drives have more bandwidth.

I just found a great deal on a Crucial SSD for SATA II people and thought I'd share seeing as this post came up on the first page of a Bing search.

Crucial now offers an SSD upgrade specifically for my Lenovo T510 which only runs 3 Gbps (SATA II) in the main bay and 1.5Gbps (SATA I) in the CD-ROM or UltraBay.

The CT1729765 128GB SSD is selling for $125.95 on their own site http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=ECA9012FA5CA7304

right now and they're reporting the speeds as

Sustained Sequential Read: Up to 500 MB/s(SATA 6Gb/s)
Sustained Sequential Write: Up to 175 MB/s(SATA 6Gb/s)
4KB Random Read: Up to 45,000 IOPS
4KB Random Write: Up to 35,000 IOPS

The generic version of that drive is the same price and they also have options if you want the 3.5" adapter bracket or transfer kit http://www.crucial.com/store/listmod...072~/list.html

Just trying to do my part and add to the conversation when I find a post useful.
