Best spyware remover

^^ the best I have thouse 2 and I did the free scan for SD and SD found 20 more infection then Adware , spybot woudl not delete any thing.

Ad aware works fine with me. I really dont' browse alot in the internet. Mostlly I post here lol  and other good places.

One that helps, does not scan or delete, is spyware blaster. It is a good install to have. There is no one program that will do it all. It's best to have a few that way one program can get things that others miss and the others can get the things it misses.

Best spyware remover: DBAN, followed by a fresh installation of Windows, and get the system secure this time.

That means patching, using a Limited account for everything that you can, and using a firewall and antivirus software. Add common sense to not try installing junk that you don't know where it really came from, and don't let your gf/roommate/friends use anything but a Limited account either.

Prevention is so easy. The Limited account is a key pillar of that. If you want to switch to Limited, first create a new password-protected Computer Administrator account and name it DANGER or something, and now you can simply flip your regular user account over to Limited. I also create another Limited account named Visitors and leave it as the only non-passworded account, so people can use my system, but not as me.

If you're looking do to removal of stubborn spyware/adware, try Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 6 with all settings maxed out, they have functioning trialware. Combine that with Windows Defender and see how they do in tandem. Since spyware/adware is sometimes installed by Trojans or worms, having a compotent antivirus software is a start.

Nice post mechBgon, but I have to contest your copyright of the cheetah icon on your website!
I'm the original author of the Cheetah icon and licensed it to FuseTalk, so it's the real deal 🙂 Other avatars by me, some better work than others:

Cat
Borg
Tiger
Lion
Lionness
Wildcat
Trout (all these cats gotta eat something😕 )
Crow
Eagle
Parrot
Vulture
Dragon
Wolf
Gorrilla
Can O' Worms
Roll O' TP (not in use here, but if you see it at Fat Wallet...)

I AGREE, because I use it and would not want anything else.

Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper are the best commercial removal tools. I have a detailed guide in my sig if you are looking for additional information.

Well, I just d/led the free spy sweeper and did a scan of my system. Came out clean. And I d/l a sh!t load of stuff online every week. I use FF + AdBlock Plus. When I d/l stuff, I d/l them from trusted sources. I don't click on any mysterious exes. I use AntiVir for virus scan/protection, and Spybot as spyware scan.

I use Spywareblaster and Spybot S&D. I really don't get spyware though. I've gotten 2 tracking cookies in the last 2 or 3 years. I run as administrator, but I think the biggest reason I don't get spyware is because I use Firefox as my browser. Also, to help cut down on the tracking cookies set cookie handling to reject 3rd party cookies. No one but the site you're actually visiting has any buisness setting cookies on your system.

Also an addition I would make is using the 'No Script' plug-in for Firefox. Basically you can easily control when, what pages or what particular scripts on a page you are willing to allow. Its a great tool. Together with a limited account it should make picking up anything while browsing very difficult assuming a fully updated windows computer with a few more vulnerable services disabled.

That only leaves email attachments and files you open to damage your computer which software can't really prevent.

With the right setup and safe computer usage you shouldn't even need to run any anti-virus - in that scenario Bitdefender and other free scanners work brilliantly as on-demand scanners when you do want.
