Best Speakers for $75~$125?

I am building a couple of systems for friends and need to know what the best speakers I can pick up for about 75 to 125 are. It makes no difference to them whether they are 5 piece or 3. They are just looking for the best possible sound quality for the price (mainly for music). Any ideas? I have the Klipsch Promedias myself but they claim they are out of their price range.

MiniThug, for $99 list price check out the Boston Acoustics BA790's. Great sound, and loud, if you want that. Digital input from a capable sound card, plus analog too. You can get them at a number of places: check out PriceWatch for internet dealers, Best Buy and CompUSA for retail.

i've got the fps2000s, i got them for free, but i've heard they are around $100 now, and are pretty nice. I might go for the altec ada880s for $100 though if i was spending money.

ACS48s are pretty cheap these days and don't take up too much space

There are about 2-3 speaker packages in this price range, and even one below your price range, which sound great. If you really want the best sound possible, pick up a set of BA4800's. These will cost you about $139 but it's $15 out of your price range, and worth every extra $15.

If you really don't want to go over your budget, I recommend one of two speaker systems. Altec Lansing ACS56's sound really good and will cost you about $80-90 or so. This is a 4.1 channel setup and sound GREAT. Also, the ACS54's, which are the downgraded model from the ACS56's also sound really awesome. You can get them at Directron for $45 plus shipping. This is absolutely the best value for the money. I bought a set for about $80 and I was willing to pay $100 once I heard them. These speakers also sound great, but obviously the ACS56's have the upper hand with a larger subwoofer.

DO NOT buy any speakers from Creative. Even their high end speakers sound like trash. The FPS1000/2000's sound especially horrible and I do not recommend them AT ALL.

Also, the BA790's recommended do not sound anywhere comparable to the BA4800's, the 4800's are far superior.

for 129 you can get the very good Monsoon MM-700 flat panel speakers (2/1 with volume puck) delivered from wwwoutpost.com i have them and they sound wonderful...

i almost got the ALC48s mentioned above around ~80...check cnet.com for reviews and you'll find both have great ratings...the altecs are bone white...i just wanted something black...and with better sound :)

Maybe slightly out of your price range, but you can get the CAmbridge Soundworks Microworks for $130. These speakers used to be over $250, but are going cheap now because they are discontinued. This product is from before Creative Labs took over, and sounds great to me.

altec lansing sells a couple of models for under $80 leaving more money for a good sound card witch is every bit as important to good sound. Built in mobo sound is always inferior to a good sound card in terms of sound quality alone not to mention the overall system performance gained by releiving the cpu of its sound reproduction duties.

I definitly recommend the altec lansing acs56's
Very good sound quality for the price. With a good soundcard, these will rock. I got mine for about $90 shipped.

I own a set of the acs56's. I got them for 87 bucks with a 15 buck coupon at buy.com, but they dont have any coupons out so I guess they will be around 100 by now. I like these speakers a lot but they arent high quality enough for myself. I am really thinking about getting a set of ba4800s or a set of the klipsch promedias. The ba4800s will be the best and as someone said, the little bit of extra money will not be regretted.

The Monsoon's sound great for a 2.1 system. I'm considering the 1000's to add to my Altec Lansing 305's.

I have some low-end Creative's and they DO sound cheesy but they have a headphone jack. ;-)
