best sounding engines

lets see what you think are the best sounding engines

4 cylinders -

for me, the Flat four (boxer) engine out of the impreza's that thing growls! in 2nd place the 2.0litre VTEC unit from the S2000

6 Cylinders -

straight 6= has to be the unit from the BMW M3 CSL.
V6 = 3.2 litre 24valve job from the Alfa Romeo Spider (current model)

V8's - tough one since there lots to choose, but i think ill go with the 5.5 litre AMG built V8 that finds its home (super charged) in the SLR, and in pretty much all the AMG tuned Mercs of late (albiet less powerful than the SLR's).

V10's - not many around, Porsche Carrera GT's V10 wins it for me, BM's V10 in the M5 (heard one at the petrol station today, and he floored it on the way out, is too quiet)

V12's - the lamborghini Miura's V12...rough as, but damn it makes a good noise.

and of course nuttiest engine award goes to bugatti and the 16 cylinder brute they put in their new car the veyron

i love the sound of ferrari, and then porsche.

but i do enjoy a nice american rumble every now and then -- referring to the classics here.

Love the sound of a classic Chevy V8 with good pipes, nothing else like it, and its readily availible.

I feel that a lof ot the luxury and exotic car engines only sound really good at redline.

My favorite 4 cylinder sound is the flat four aircooled VW.
Lots of V8s have a nice sound to them, don't know that I can pick one.

Depends too much on the engine itself, and the exhaust that is hooked up to it...

Ferrari is the best sounding though.

i like it when you have those old V8's that burble and splutter at idle....it freaking rocks

426 Hemi's gurgle is just something to die for. I'd say a Chevy Small Block, but those sound so different depending on the configuration, that I can't say one in particular.

6 Cylinder? Gotta be a Cummins.

4cyl
SR20DET 😀 gawd i hate the way boxer engines sound

6cyl
VG35DE

8cyl
Ever heard a ferrari V8 just sing right behind your head?
