Best Soundcard?

I'm all for the Hercules GameTheaterXP.... had bad drivers at first, but that's cleared up now, and it works a million times better with my amd system on winxp than the audigy/liveplatinum ever did.

No problems here with my SB Audigy and AMD system 🙂,sound quality is excellent and it has the lowest CPU usage of any add-in sound card available board, other good cards are Santa Cruz which has excellent drivers and the Philips AE.
The term "best sound card" is vague since really there is no best card if you take into account drivers, sound quality, features, price etc just lots of good sound cards.

🙂

i like the philips AE because its QMSS algorithm works very well in transforming 2 channel streams into 4.1 or 5.1. its drivers work very well in 2k/xp and you can grab one for ~$50-60 now.

another vote for the AE. got two of them, one in a PIII winXP rig, the other in my AMD winXP beast. they power the Klipsch 4.1 and the Logitech Z560s, so I can tell the quality of output pretty well!

Question for you, which setup do you like the best between the klipsch and the 560's? thanks

i would have to say the klipsch. i got those for home rig at home last year, and they have been superb in everything. unlike some other people, i think the midrange is excellent for music, and the bass is good for movies and games. the logitech z560s are the best vaue for the money so far tho, and these are the only speakers i could justify for under $150. if you have less than $300 to spend, i'd recommend the logitechs.

basically, you cannot go wrong with either setup.

My vote is for the SB Audigy.....I've upgraded from a SBlive and definitly hear a difference in quality. I've had an Awe64 (decent card but old isa slot!), SB16 Pci (cheap and sucks), Sb128(cheap and sucks), Tb Montego2 Quad (nice card with A3d2 and game stuff, didn't have the full-out richness of the sblive), Sblive Mp3+ (decent card, nice quality), and now Sb Audigy Mp3( great card, great quality, little bit more expensive then other cards).
