Best SoundCard for Current setup

Ok so heres the deal. I have an Aiwa Surround Sound system (5 channel) with dolby pro logic. Currently my sound card is connected to the systems auxillary input via a miniplug (connected to the analog? out on the soundcard) that splits to component? (Red/White) in (to the back of the minisystem). I get decent sound, but since my cheap soundcard does some of the amplifying its not as good as it could be. I get distortion if i set the volume out on the soundcard too high, and the volume where distortion is minimal is rather low. What card would you suggest for me to get optimal sound out of this configuaration? Can you suggest a new way to set this up without changing my minisystem? Id like to be able to get the dolby surround the way it was meant when I play DVDs, but im pretty sure by the poor surround quality that im not. Is there a way to use this feature of my minisystem or am I stuck?

Uhh ok can someone explain how I will be hooking up the phillips card? Remember my Minisystem only has TWO component INs. Ie Left and Right, even though its a 5 channel system...

On the line out of the Philips card it has three mini jack outputs, front, rear, and center/sub. You would use the minijack adaptor you are using now into the front output jack..that's it.

Ok Im confused... but then arent 3 channels in dolby mode or 2 channels in surround sound mode not being utilized? Isnt this the same setup I have now but just with a new card? 😕

no, with both the philips and santa cruz the 1st jack is front left right,2nd jack is rear left right, and 3rd jack is center/subwoofer. well thats the way it should be, and its full dolby digital 5.1.
