Upon Ribbon13's suggestion, I just got one of these. My needs might be more than yours but the CMedia 8788 chipset is supposed to have superior sound quality. It is about 15 bucks more than your budget but well worth it IMO

if you're gaming you can't use EAX without a creative card. Quality aside, if you want full use for gaming you have no choice. Plus to be quite honest almost none of the average users can tell a difference in sound quality between chips.
