I have some relatively crappy onboard sound, which produces many pops and clicks when I set the audio latency low enough to play in real-time on my MIDI keyboard. I want to be able to keep the quality high and play in more or less real time.
I've got an Athlon 64 3200 and a gig of RAM, so I should have some good horsepower in that regard. What I need is the best, preferably cheapest, sound card that will give me good latencies and good audio reproduction.
I see there's a SB Live 24-bit card I can pick up for around $30, but I'd be willing to spent up to $80-90 or so if need be.
Your help is appreciated.
