Best sound card for 4 speaker system is ______.

I need a great sound card for a 4 speaker system. I love the soundblasters but they screw up my system, Abit KT7a. What do you recommend?

How do sound blasters screw up your system? SB Live kicks! .. I used to own a decent Turtle beach wave table.. that was pretty nice too

for some reason I cannot run it with the upgraded bios and it keeps making problems for me, BSOD and system freeze on CTLauncher etc., I have been informed it is most likely to be because the Abit KT7A and the SoundBlaster family have "issues".

For the record If I knew of this before hand I would have chosen another MOBO because SB kicks ass.

Have you tried moving the SB to a different slot and not installing the SB16 drivers?

(I'm assuming you have, just throwing it out there - just in case)

I'm leaning towards the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, as the best general purpose (Gaming, Music, DVDs, whatever) soundcard out there.

I don't think it's enough better than my SBLive to justify the price tag, but if I was looking for a new card it'd be the Santa Cruz.

Assuming that I was given the choice over all of these great sound cards two years ago, I probably would have chosen the Santa Cruz or the Acoustic Edge. But right now, I can't really justify replacing my SB Live!, which has been nothing but a solid sound card. So, in a sense, I kind of agree with Noriaki.

Mode 4 I have tried numerous pci slots but completely forgot about the 16 stuff. I will try it tonight rather than getting a new card on the way home. I hope it works because I love the SB cards
