Best Sonic game for the Genesis

Poll! I found my old Genesis tonight and took a trip down memory lane, which was your favorite Sonic game?

So close between sonic 2 and sonic & knuckles, awesone fun and great music, had to give it to s&k though as i spent more time with it and you could play through it as knuckles after You could also play through sonic 2 as knuckles by plugging it into the s&k cartridge.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I consider Sonic & Knuckles to be the expansion pack for Sonic 3. They're both the same game. Man, I must have played that to death back in the day. It's one of the few I can actually do a clean play through (never dying, never hurt). Sonic 1 comes in second. I could never really get into Sonic 2 that much, namely because the special stages were so damn hard after about the first four. Sonic CD probably rounds out the top three. I had it for PC. It's definitely a unique entry in the franchise even though it largely follows the same formula as the others.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles need to be listed as a single choice. It is also undoubtedly the best Sonic game as well.

They were originally going to be in one game called Sonic 3 but it got split into two games eventually. I still look at it as the true Sonic 3.

Sonic 3 had nothing on S&K, S&K was way more fun, sonic 3 was very bland by comparison.

Wow, I am the only one who voted for Sonic Spinball. I loved that game and spent almost as much time on it as I did with Sonic 2 w/ S&K (which would have won if it was an option).

They are two halves of the same game.

Also, Sonic 2 is to Sonic 3 & Knuckles as Mario 2 is to Mario 3 in terms of quality.

I think Sonic Spinball is an acquired taste. It's certainly different and more challenging than most of the other Sonic Genesis games.
