I know the year isn't over yet, and its been quite a weak year as far as music goes. Yet two songs stand out amoung the ones i listen to the most, they are:

54-40 - Casual Viewin
Everclear - Wonderful

what are your fav's from this year?

Alot of you might not even know who 54-40 is...if you don't go into napster or scour and sample this song, they are one cool Canadian band :)

Any song off APC's Mer de Nomes.

Edit: No new tool album in 2000, so I had to go with the next best thing ;)

So that's where your alias comes from... A Perfect Circle is good, but not as good as TOOL! ;)

Oh yeah, to contribute my opinion to this thread I nominate "Here With Me" from Dido's "No Angel" album.

(Now there's quite a broad range of musical taste for you, don't you think?)

Dl'd some 54-40 just now. Listening to Casual Viewing now............. Pretty coo, I wouldn't call it the best song of the year though. I don't really know if I can pick a best song of the year...... If I had to pick someone I would have to say..... Unemployed Boyfriend aslo by Everclear but not released as a single.

Be careful chef...that song will grow on you:)

I consider 54-40 one of the most innovative bands out there, yet they get no exposure outside of Canada. They have been around a long time and have a distinct sound, include nearly every instrument under the Sun and put it all together in songs that you just want to sing along with :)

The Fragile was released in '99, although it has been one of the two best albums in the last two years to come out...

the other being Finger Eleven's The Greyest of Blue Skies. Which came out a few months ago.
Stay and Drown, Bones + Joints, and Sick of it all are the top songs I would choose.

Good call on the Everclear song I really really like that song as well it totally kicks butt.

Listening to the radiohead now. I have the album in mp3 but never checked the tune. Hmm, maybe this song grows on you but after a full listen its certainly no "fake plastic trees"

Egads! What a bunch of nef posts!

Everclear? Jeez...their drummer STILL hasn't learned a new beat and "Wonderful" is just "Father of Mine, Pt. 2".

And "The Fragile" was one of the WORST POS in the last few years. Trent has utterly lost it and should go lie down FOREVER!:|

My pick? Uh...been a really bad year for killer singles, but I'll go with Smashing Pumpkins' "Cash Car Star". Too bad it's unavailable in good sounding form and the band's packing it in after coming back with "Machina".

Fragile a pos? Oh, man come on!
It's a beautiful peice of work, how can say that?

The reason it didn't do so well is because of all the mainstream metal/rap music has brainwashed all the NiN'ers and led them astray.

U2 - Beautiful Day only been out a month and a half and already my favorite song of the year. Probably a better song will be on their new album.

u2fan certainly that song has renewed my faith in U2 as a band. i loved their old stuff, didn't care for the new. This seems old school from them.

Anyone who likes 54 40 try One Day In Your Life - good song - also they have the original I Go Blind, which Hootie did a remake of.
