best solution to go wireless?

i have a laptop that i want to be able to basically travel almost anywhere with and have access to the internet.. from my car, from where i eat luch.. from a friends house... wherever.. what would you all recommend as the best solution for this? please consider price, quality of connection, and coverage area... thanks...
