i made the jump to VoIP services. i'm going through Lingo.

first of all, i really don't want to know any opinions about how Lingo sucks.

all i want to know is what soho router is best for VoIP, or Lingo's services if that makes a difference.

at the moment i have an old 4-port linksys router, that i'll need to retire. i have a PIX 501, but I don't know if that does QOS, and it seems the learning curve is going to be a bit steep.

i'm assuming many will say the linksys 802.11b/g routers upgraded with some other firmware, but from my reading, the newer versions don't have as good QOS abilities as the older verions. can someone set me straight here?

also, should i have the VoIP adapter behind the router or infront of it? Lingo recommends having the device infront of the router, but what seems to work best?

if i place the device before the router, will i even need QOS?

Depends on the phone adapter they gave you.
If that device is a router/adapter combo w/ QoS support, place it in front of your router. If it's a standalone adapter that marks voice traffic w/ higher priority, you can get a switch that supports QoS and put the switch & the adapter behind the router.
