We had 2 drives crash on us and need some kind of cloning software to prevent this from happening again.

Looking to make bootable CD that is a mirror of entire drive...?

It does all that accept I don't think it makes the cd bootable, but you can create a bootable master cd.

Hrm, why is this being recommended over ghost?

The latest Ghost is really based on drive image 7 which was totally bloated and completely different from Drive Image 6 which was really good.

I've used Drive Image 6, 7 and Ghost 2003. I admit I haven't used ghost 9.0 but since it's based on Drive Image 7 and that was unbelievable bloated and silly compared with drive Image 6, I just can't recommned it.

Problems with Drive Image 7:

1. requires .net
2. require at least 256 megs of ram
3. didn't always work right
4. require a special recovery disc

Ghost 9.0 might have fixed all the bugs that were in Drive Image when they aquired Powerquest but really Acronis True Image is the better app today.

Acronis TrueImage 8 - hands down. Symantec is a cannibalistic bloodsucker. 🙂
