You want to burn it to play in a DVD player or just burn the AVI onto the DVD?

I'd say either Tmpeg Author or I think Nero has a DVD authoring program. Those would probably be the easiest.

Nero 6 and higher will do it for you - beware it will take awhile to convert to a DVD-burnable format.

VideoHelp.com is a good place to get...well...help. I've been using Tmpeg and it is very easy.

FWIW, I've had a few problems with the Nero authoring program (using the 6.0 Ultra suite) and some AVI files. Made a half dozen coasters to go with a half dozen successful burns. Not pleased with a 50% success rate. Maybe I'm missing a patch or something.

DVD2SVCD is the best program for this task....(just select AVI as input and DVD as output)...

Not if you have an All-in-Wonder. :) It takes about 15 minutes to recompress a DVD down to 4.3GB on my machine if AEC is turned off and not using the TV tuner (TV tuner grabs exclusive access to the compressor). During that 15 minutes, the CPU is mostly idle, waiting on the DVD reads.

We're talking about converting from what it usually Divx or Xvid to MPEG-2, not compressing a DVD9 to 4.3gb.

Whoo!

Great. I got TMPEG, and now I have 2 USELESS FILES!!

I now have it in AVI, AND M2V.. (with accompanying audio files)

What can I use these files for to BURN THEM TO A GODDAMN DVD?

How many more fvckin utilities and how many more fvcking times do I have to spend2 hours converting this goddamn file?

***EDIT***
OK ok..

Now I see it's TMPEG authoring. I just have the editting utility. :|

Looks like I'll be getting DVD Santa.. THis is fvcking rediculous

Nice.. Over 4 hours (and a nearly crippled computer) to encode one movie.

The RIAA has nothing to worry about in regards to DVD's.

Fvckin joke

That really is TMPEnc's problem. They've got some nice utilities but the functionality is spread over too many different applications.
