Best Software/Hardware for converting to MPEG

Tanner

Diamond Member
Purpose: converting VHS, DVD, Hi8, and other formats to MPEG to shoot through a projector run w/ MediaShout

Needs:

Software to cut, slice, dice, whatever you do w/ video 🙂 and compress it to MPEG

Hardware to import the various formats into the PC.

So, which card/software is the most cost/effecient for these purposes?

Thank you video gurus! 😀 I appreciate your input and value your knowledge! 😀

Here's what I do...not sure if this is the best way though:

Capture your video, edit it in Premiere, Final Cut, AVID, whatever, output to AVI and send it through TMPGEnc.

so is IceNineJon got a good idear there or what? I think it sounds good....

modedepe I think that I'm leanin' toward the leadtek for the capture...

does anyone know what kinda inputs are on the leadtek?

thx! 😀

hmm.... judging from the username, we have a(nother) Depeche Mode lover in here...

I'd buy the USB Instant DVD 2.0... If I had the money.

Otherwise, people seem to be raving about the capture quality of the ASUS TV Tuner.

Well I can't afford the best so I don't look 😉
but a good place to start is the matrox rtX100
If that?s out of your budget go for the rtX10
