I've been asked to make a basic webpage for an artist, and I don't have much experience in the field. It will need to have some image galleries, a blog and some animations.

What kind of software do I need to do that and to upload it to the host?

Alleycode is useful for looking at the coding when its all done or if you want to just look, its color coded making it less annoying on your eyes,s o you may want to give that a look too.
