Best Socket A board

A friend of mine needs a new socket A board. He woujld want one that is good for overclocking so he can OC his Athlon XP2000+.

I have to second Kensai.

I have the same board and currenty have a XPM 2600 running at 2.5gig and it stays super cool with my handy dandy SI-97.. usually around 35-37'c

I also recommended the Abit NF7-S rev. 2 to him and he seems to think it sucks. His exact words were "No to NF7-S Revision 2. Even the AN7 is better than that."

Also can you give me a link to the DFI since it isn't at newegg. Also which one is better?

Top two socket A boards, ever, are the DFI or the Abit nf7-s v2.

Next usually comes the ASUS A7N8X.

Personally, I just got a used A7N8X Deluxe 2.0... mostly because it was only $40, and the Abits/DFIs were MUCH more expensive than that.

Note: don't buy an nforce2 board if it doesn't have Soundstorm!

SoundStorm really isn't a big deal unless you're using the digital output. Using analog you're still going through some cheap Realtek codec.

I'd choose between the Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe or Abit NF7-S v2.

Sure they do. My NF7-S v2.0 has SoundStorm.
If the board has MCP-T Southbridge it has SoundStorm, but not all manufactures choose to use it.

NF7-S rev 2 (just not the NF7-S2), DFI NFII Infinity, and the Shuttle AN35N Ultra (I think that's the name) was a popular board.

Abits NF7-S v2. not to be confused with the NF7-S2 which is the crappy one.

Abit NF7-S v2 coupled with a 2500-Mobile can't be beat. Without a doubt the best you can get from socket A.
