Looking to upgrade and it has been a while, reading forever but freaking lost... so looking for some info...

Best 939/AM2 mobo - Stability and OCing?

Been reading and find that the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939
and the ASUS M2N32-WS Pro Socket AM2
or the ABIT AN9 32X Socket AM2 NVIDIA
They all look good, but wich is best for $$ and OCing and Stab???

Just ordered a Athlon 64 FX-55 San Diego 2.6GHz and actually still in cart but have not placed...

Also best RAM for the $$$

Any info would be greatly appreciated

If you have an FX-55 in your cart & that means 939.
In that case I recommend the Abit AN8 32X for a top quality, very stable board that also overclocks well.

On the other hand if you have to buy RAM as well then you should be looking at a DDR2 solution for longer term compatibility/upgrades (& really at this time am Intel Core 2 Duo rather than AM2).

Awesome... Thanks... Still doing some research...

So what's the diff between the Abit AN8 32X and the ABIT AN9 32X?

nForce4 and nForce590? DDR and DDR2?

Man I haven't built a box in over a year and so much new stuff to learn... Looking to get the newest and future uopgrade friendly hw...

Thanks for the help.

That's the one I'm eyeing since there has been a lot of hoopla about this board awhile back. It seems to be the OC king for 939. Will have to read up a little bit more since I heard it's very picky with RAM. (<-- YES it is)

If you are serious about wanting one of these, please PM me. I'll sell you mine for $60

Yup, AN8 32X is S939 & C51D & AN9 32X is AM2 & 590 but there are also layout changes (fewer PCI).

Seriously, look at Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs as well - loads of reviews all over incl. here.

Newbie question - Asus AN8 is $57, Asus AN8 32X is $131 - what's the difference for an FX-55 and is it worth it?

basically the 32 in the model name means your video cards will run at its true 16x, so if you had 2 on SLI mode your cards run at 32x as opposed to the non-32 models as they would run at 8x totaling at 16x max, in SLI mode
