So here is the deal, I have an opteron 144 I want to OC. I currently have an Asus A8V,
but I hear you need high speed RAM to OC since the dividers dont work right. So
I may have to get a new AGP board. I would rather not go PCI-E since I just bought an
X-850XT. Besides I can get a used AGP board cheaper than a new board. Any suggestions?

DFI LanParty UT nF3 Ultra-D or EPoX EP-9NDA3+... No doubt... Or you could get yourself the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2... Thanks to the modded BIOSes, this one overclocks pretty well too... Not like the DFI of course...

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the ASRock has AGP8x and PCIe16x in one...

How about the MSI Neo2? I hear it has few issues and can hit 300 HTT. Built a system for a friend
with this comp and it seems to be solid. Any comments?

Yep, great one as well, although it can't compete with the DFI IMHO... 300HTT should be no problem however...

I just sold my NEO2 and had my Opty 146 running at 3010 Stable @ 334 with the divider on 9. I couldn't get that high until I used on of Sideeffects modded bios's. I'm sure I could have gone higher with better cooling, but I was at my "safe" working limit. It did prime for 6 hours.

ya, 300 HTT should be fine. Not going for max OC, but around 2.5 and I will be happy. I have a Scythe Ninja waiting for this Opteron :D
Thanks guys.

The MSI K8N NEO2 is the best socket 939 AGP motherboard. It has all of the features included with the Nforce3 Ultra package (dual gigabit LAN, Firewire.) I've been running mine since October 2004. I have had no issues with it. I've had my CPU overclocked almost the entire time and the motherboard has been rock stable. My overclock is A64 3500+ (Winchester) @ 2.6GHz (FSB = 237).

Forget about the socket 939 Nforce3 DFI board. It is chock full of bugs. Just go over to DFI Street forums and see for yourself.

I have MSI Neo2 too. It works fine for me. I got my 3200+ venice running at 2.5 GHz.
Highest was 2.7, but I think 2.5 is definitely safe.
BTW, what's that sideeffects modded bios? Does it really help OC and where can I
get it?

I think it depends what is modded. Some modded BIOS unlock CPU or RAM voltage, and I think a few unlock RAM dividers.
