What's the best socket 7 CPU cooler? I was to use it with an AMD k63-400 on an AOpen MX59 Pro II board (micro ATX).

I'm currently using my retail PIII heatsink/fan combo on my socket 7 P133. It seems to fit perfectly with no excessive tension. Don't know if it works on a K6, but I would imagine it would. Quite surprised that a FCPGA cooler will fit on a Socket 7 chip. Should perform pretty good since it was originally for a PIII 933. Cheap to come by too.

Does that Pentium III run cooler than a 0.25 micron K6-3 chip?

I've heard that the K6-3 can heat your room!

Do the Socket A coolers perform better at cooling Socket 7 CPU's than Socket 7 coolers? Any tests of this?

I used to have an Aavid HSF (one of the better ones designed for Socket 7) on my K6-3+ 450/600, and averaged 49-50 degrees Celsius. I swapped it for a Taisol (I forget the model) Socket A HSF and my temperature now stays right at 39 degrees, so, yes, I'd say there's a pretty good difference... ;)

That is a difference. Is Socket A surgace area smaller than Socket 7? Is there more/less contact between the HSF and the CPU with Sockt A than with Socket 7?

I use a socket A cooler on mine (Cooler Master DP56H51) on mine and it's much better than the 3 socket 7 ones I tried.
