Best "small" 939 cooler

I am in Europe for another few weeks and have already purchased an opty for my home htpc, however it is sans cooler. I wanted to get it up and running as soon as I get home so I was going to order a cooler for it for while I was still here. Here is the problem: my htpc does not allow for much room I believe. It is a standard htpc case so I am thinking the height is the problem. And I barely have internet for more than a few minutes so I hardly have time to look either.

I plan on overclocking but silence is kind of more important. Basically any suggestions for a slim silent but descent overclocking cooler would be awsome. Price is not to much of an issue, but I am not goin nuts over it either. Thanks in advance.

Yep, t'is true. They were selling on eBay for $15 last year.

Aside from the above, a Thermalright XP-90 or Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro would do well.

I know someone who has a couple of those 4 heatpipe heatsinks if you wanted one for $10 shipped. I was planning on grabbing one myself.

I think the best cheap coolers are those 4 heatpipe sinks, arctic apline link, or freezer 64. The ultra 90 is only about $15 lately also.

With all the monster coolers out now, the Zalman 7000 series is far from the best for temps or overclocking, but it's hard to beat when you include silence as a top priority. This is what I have used in my HTPC for about 2 years and it is perfect. It's also not very tall. You didn't say AM2 or 939, so this might not work.

Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu

I second this recommendation, I used it in a SFF case I built for the wife and it works great even with an overclocked X2. And I like that it comes with a 3 speed fan switch.

The Thermalright XP-90 is not much taller than the Zalman CNPS even with a fan mounted. It will cool better than the Zalman CNPS7000 and costs about the same. You could also look into the new low-profile dual-fan Freezer 64 from AC. AT had a page about it in their CES coverage report.

Ummm, the XP90 is 63mm without a fan and 88mm with a fan. The Zalman 7000 is 62mm tall. Something that is 42% taller is "much taller."

No offense to anyone, but when somebody asks for a small cooler, try to resist the urge to plug your favorite cooler. We all know that bigger is better, but this request was for a small cooler. It was also for an HTPC, so noise is also an issue.

I'm not trying to plug my favorite cooler lol...I'm not even using an XP-90 in my current system. I just find the XP-90 preferable to the CNPS7000 in terms of cooling, as it is capable of cooling a full 6-7C better with a medium speed fan (almost on par with a Freezer 64 Pro)

Also, I have a 125+ mm tall Freezer 64 Pro in my case, which is a CM wave master. Not only was this case designed with support for 80mm rear fans and a removable mobo tray, I have a 120mm side exhaust further reducing the available width inside. Yet my Freezer still fits in the case...thus, unless the OP is running a seriously low profile HTPC case, I don't think the extra inch or so will matter too much.

BTW...I just realized that the CNPS7700 is only 67mm tall. If space really is a concern, go for that over the 7000 since it provides improved performance for only 4mm of increased height.
