Hello, I'm getting tired of lugging around my bulky Olympus D-510 2.1 mega pixel camera. A friend of mine has one of those nice Sony 5 mp 2.5" LCD cameras and I've gotta admit it is really nice. Are the Sony cameras the best for the price (about 400 IIRC)? Are there any nice slim cameras for 300-400 (4mp at least)? Thanks

I bought my sister a Fuji FinePix a340 (looks like it's replaced by the a345 now) last December, she really likes it. It's not super thin like that Sony DSC-T1 (I'm assuming that's what your friend had), but I borrowed it for a wedding and it fit great in my shirt pocket for quick pictures.

That Sony DSC-T1 is pretty affordable, under $350 shipped at newegg. Sony makes some very nice high end cameras, I'm not sure how that particular model is. I'm not a fan of memory sticks at all, although there are a few third party manufactures now and prices have dropped a little (still nowhere near CF/SD/xD though). Memory stick prices are ~$34 shipped for a 128mb stick, where a 128mb card is $16/$16/$25 for CF/SD/xD (all prices shipped from Newegg)

Canon SD200. 3 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.5" LCD. Print up to 8x10" with great quality. 640x480 30fps movie mode limited only by the size of the memory card. Perfect go-everywhere little point-and-shoot digital camera. Uses SD cards.

I bought mine for $230 a month ago from B&H in New York. Figure another $100 for 1GB SD card, a spare battery, and you're all set.
