Best size tablet for reading, watching tutorials

I wanted to get into some ios and android development and I enjoy watching those videos. Trying to read the fonts and their typing on my note 4 doesn't work. I can see it well on my wife's original ipad but I find the size cumbersome. What's a good size that's portable and one that I'll be able to see what they are typing on youtube. I'm contemplating the nexus 7 but 7 might be too small. How is the nexus 9? Not portable enough?

I have slight vision issues and the only tablet I can see anything on is 9-10". I bought a 7" windows 10 tablet and in addition to finding out windows 10 is awful on a tablet I also found I could barely see anything.

Its funny you brought this up cuz I am currently using a 10" android tablet to watch java coding videos all the time atm. GL learning. 😉

My corrected vision is 20/20 and I find the Nexus 9 to be a decent size for textbook reading. It was my go-to study tablet for about a year and I only gave it up because I switched to the iOS/Mac OS ecosystem. 10" devices like an iPad are even better.

Now my definition of a small (portable?) tablet would be one that I can comfortably hold width to width with just one hand (I have very slightly smaller than average male hands). Both the 8" iPad Mini and 8" Galaxy Tab S2 fit this description for me, but the Nexus 9 does not. But my problem with 8" tablets for textbooks is that I notice myself leaning in to read them. Although I can read them just fine if I lean in, I'm not going to sacrifice my back for the convenience of a smaller tablet.

The Nexus 9 doesn't fit my definition of a small tablet, but it's what I'd recommend minimally for a tablet to read code off of. An 8" tablet with a wider aspect ratio might make the cut for videos since there won't be giant black borders, but the lack of vertical space will quickly get to you when you need to reference code off of Websites. And compared to the original 2010 iPad, the Nexus 9 is a heck of a lot more portable anyway.

IMO you should give the iPad Mini a spin and load up some YouTube tutorials since it's in just about every electronics retailer. If you don't fall in love with the size, then spring for something like the Nexus 9 or bigger.

I find my tab pro 8.4 to be the perfect size for reading. I am very nearsighted and the res and size is perfect for me.

Recently, my brother-in-law brought Samsung Tab 4. It has 7 inch screen. I tried to read book on this device but it was not so interesting. I suggest you to go for 10 inch screen tablet.

Anything above 7", don't pick a 7" screen, you'll hate it; the least you can buy is a 8" device.
For example, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is a nice device, the screen size could do the job for you.
