I have a cool panoramic picture that I want to get professionally printed out, framed and hung on my wall. What is generally a good size for one of these? I used to have a frame/photo shop by my house where I could buy pictures and saw panoramics of baseball stadiums....anybody know what size these usually are?

No idea what size the prints you mention are, sorry.

I had a photograph I took printed out, and it came out to 12" x 30". :)

How far from the wall will be the general viewing of this photo? You can try and find a calculator and see how large you can print it at 200 - 250 dpi.

Edit:
I found one:

At 200dpi, it will be 70.43"x15.7"
At 150dpi, it will be 93.91"x20.93"
At 300dpi, it will be 46.95"x10.46"

With those numbers, I'd probably go for something between 200 and 300 if I had a decent size wall to put it on.

Its just going to go on my office wall. 46" is almost 4 feet across and I think that may be too big.

Would 9.5" x 27" (long) be weird?

Yeah, it would be weird unless you cropped it. You could print it at 400dpi and you'll get a print size of 35" by 7.84".

You can run the math for sizing:
Length in pixels / DPI = length in inches
Height in pixels / DPI = height in inches

Keep the DPI the same for each and the photo won't be distorted. If you're going to get it professionally printed, you could then give them the size you want or just tell them the DPI to print it at.

I was going to have it printed by ezprints but it seems their site is down right now.

35" x 7.84" is not too bad - I think I can do that. Thats at 400 dpi? Will it look ok?

400dpi is good. I printed some of my photos (~3500x2600) on 13"x19" photo paper at 300/350dpi and it won't even fill the paper. They look great, even close up.
