Well, like many others, I'm really enjoying playing Oblivion. I currently am running the game with a 7800gtx (stock speeds) and an AMD 64 at 2.4ghz. I've got every setting maxed out and running at 1280x1024. The game gets a little choppy and using FRAPS, my frame rate indoors have sometimes dipped below 30.

Does this game seem to do better with the new ATI cards (x1900xt) since they have more pixel shaders? Would I see a bid difference if I bought one of these cards? Or, would it be best to wait on the G80 - if so, when is that thing coming out? Thanks in advance!!

I think it's pretty even (comparing G70/71 to R580). I've been reading around the forums, but I havn't seen any real "proof".

Your 7800GTX is fine. If your not happy, you can still get another off ebay for less money.

Many people seem to be having issues with Oblivion currently, I'd wait for official word and/or patches before making ANY purchasing decisions based off this game.

It may be very likely you have more than enough right now.

"tdt" in the console will give you a built in framerate counter. Have you tried the "Max frames to render ahead" tweak, or disabling vsync? It might help your performance.

Hang on to your 7800 and wait for Oblivion to be patched up. Or instead of wasting cash on upgrading your video card, go get the Xbox 360 + Oblivion instead.

How do you disable vsync in oblivion? It's not listed as an option in the video settings.

Should be in the splash up screen under options
