Best simple (freeware) tool to resize a partition

Yes yes, I know you must always back up your data. I do have the data backed up - on a crapload of DVDs that would be a pain to put back on my hard drive. Essentially I have a 500GB disk, formatted as a single partition, that's only about 30% full. I just need to make a tiny 20GB partition on it.

Google yields way too many results. Hoping someone here can quickly recommend something that likely won't result in, "Oops, all data lost, sucks to be you playa, contact support at our website."
 
+1 for Gparted. There is another free hard disk partitioning tool called Partition Logic.
