Best SIM for Mexico & Central America?

Which is the best carrier for roaming en Mexico y Central America -that is, primarily the lowest rates soley for voice? What about versus US carrier/partner rates?

Dont have any info for paticular companies, but I imagine your best rate would be to purchase a local sim in each country you are in. If you are a AT&T customer, for instance, rates will run from $.99/min in Mexico to $3.49/min in Belize, with the other central American countries at $2.29/min. Text messages are $.50 each and MMS are $1.30 each. YOu could most certainly beat those rates from a local provider, and with using a callback service, maybe much cheaper that what they could offer you.

As long as you are near a major city, you can get something - but in the countryside, there is very little coverage.

In Central America, one size does not always fit all. Each country has its own system, and again, you are better off renting locally if you really need to make a lot of calls.

Thank you both. I am now thinking perhaps better to use the mobile sparingly and rather use a phone card with pay phones -especially for long distance.
