Best Shoe Polish?

What type of shoe polish do you, or should you, use, preferably for black shoes (like sketchers dress shoes)? Where and how much?

I prefer Lincoln over Kiwi. It's difficult to find, however. It gives a better shine with less effort and seems more durable to me. The only downside is that after awhile your shoes can take on a brownish tint when the shine starts wearing off (repolish and it disappears). I have no idea why that is. Kiwi works, but it's harder to establish a base coat with it also (on new shoes).

For a leather conditioner, there's one that comes in a reddish-brown container with a small loop handle at the top -- looks somewhat like a jerrycan. Can't for the life of me remember what brand it is, but it works wonders. I broke-in my jungle boots in half the time with very little pain when I used that stuff. I'll see if I can find the name somewhere.
