Best shaver! That's right.. What is the best electronic shaver?

I only have to shave about once every three days.. But, I am getting sick of the razor burn from my Mach 3 (I use aftershave and change the blades once every two weeks.. and still get razor burn.).

What is the best electronic shaver? I want closest shave first, and quickest shave second, and ability to get wet third. I splash water on everything I own because I am a sloppy bitch.

Is the Braun synchro thing the way to go? Or is there something better now? BTW, I am not paying more than $125.

Electric razors are like "clip-on" ties.

Real men use razors. :)

Try shaving immediately after you get out of the shower. Splash COLD water on your face, add a layer of shaving cream, and let your beard SOAK for minute or two before beginning.

Start with short, easy strokes - follow the grain. You don't need to "press" the razor into your face to get closeness - let the blade do it's own work. Rinse your razor often.

Do 2 or 3 passes - following the grain, short easy strokes, cold water razor rinses, add a new layer of shaving cream each pass.

I do one final pass against the grain with a thinner layer of cream, because I like my shave extra close. But if you are having sensitivity problems, you can work up to this final pass gradually, or skip it altogether.

Rinse with COLD water. BLOT (don't scrub) your face dry, and immediately add aftershave. Allow your face to air-dry (or you can hit it with COLD air from a hairdryer). If you notice any little nicks, just DAB them with a tiny bit of aftershave and let your face dry.

It takes practice, but soon you'll be "razor-burn-free" with a closer shave than any electric razor can give you.

:) Good luck!

You're shaving right after you get out of the shower so that your poors will be open, but then you're splashing cold water on your face to close them?

Hey man, it works for me - no more "razor burn", and I ain't using Mach III's either.

Use warm water if you like - whatever turns you on, man. :)

I'm surprised no one has correct his title yet...

Should be 'electric,' not "electronic." :p
Unless you plan on shaving with your computer.

And I just use some Phillishave I've had for a long time...
It kinda sucks.

I vote for the Braun Synchro. I shave once every 2 or 3 days and it works great.

Reviews of electric razors tend to say you get the same results with all electric razors. You may differ in your personal opinion of their extra features, but all are essentially the same performance wise.

Electric razors will never give as close of a shave, but you can improve their shaving quality dramatically by stretching your skin as you shave. However the benefits of electric razors are great: (1) far faster, (2) painless, (3) there is no razor burn for most users, (4) no need to repeatedly by shaving products and no worry about running out, and (5) easier to travel with as there is no shaving cream spilling over everything in your suitcase. I really prefer electric razors for those reasons.

Clip on ties my hiney: more like writing a letter vs. sending an email. I can shave with an electric shaver in 30 seconds vs. 5-10 minutes (more using your method) with a razor. Gives me that much more time to enjoy my Apple Jacks in the morning.

I've been using a Norelco Quadra Action for years (everyday). I think they have newer models now.

That's my fav so far. Though I shave once a week cuz i'm hella lazy. get a nice beard build-up before it gets too annoying.

i wish i only had to shave every couple of days :(

On topic, i have a Remington model MS3 2700 Titanium and i'd rate it as "just ok". The sucker was expensive. I've had an electric Norelco in the past, and regret not purchasing another Norelco. Considering that i shave everyday with my mach3, and my electric is only when i have time, i'm not at a complete loss.

instead of using aftershave try using Isopropyl Alcohol, you can get it for $.99 almost anywhere and it works way better than aftershave IMO. I shave really really close and still haven't got razor burn using alcohol.

I still have a Norelco I got back in about 1992. Works great. I'd definitely buy another one if this thing ever totally dies on me. I don't use anything to prepare or to finish. I usually do it before I shower in the morning but if I forget, I'll just do it whenever.

Always use hot water (not scalding, but hot) to rinse and soften the hair. It helps to wash your face prior to shaving, especially with something with grit in it to get all the dead skin off. Use gel or oil, foam doesn't trap water as well, which is crucial to easy shaving. Wet your face, then apply gel on top. Don't foam the gel in your hands. Shave, rinsing the blade often with hot water. Do not shake off the excess water! I shave against the grain everywhere except my chin and upper lip. Then I kind of shave sideways. Rinse your face with cold water and use a balm w/out alcohol.

EDIT: I used a Braun syncro a few times (my father and brother have them) and I was faster (not to mention closer) with my Mach 3.

Ouch! Bet you smell really..err...sterile too :)

Bath and Body Works makes an aftershave gel that is a 100% cure for razor burn. It's $5/tube and comes in 4 scents. CHeck it out ;)

Were you shaving with the right end? I don't understand how a razor can be faster than an electric shaver since there's no cream to put on.

Used the Mach3 forever til I used the Panasonic ES8003. I got it on amazon for 130 which wasnt bad considering it was 300 when it came out.
Yes the shave is NOT as close as a Mach3 but it still is very clean. All in all I really like it.

Agreed. If you must have an electric shaver, get the cheapest one you can find and duct tape a mach 3 to it.

I'm on my second Norelco. I bought my first at 23, I'm 42 now.
They work well, and are pretty durable, too.
