Best set of speakers for around $50?

I too would have to say go with the Altec Lansing ACS33 system. I got mine 6 months ago for 49.99 + uncle sam. That was without a hot deal of any kind so i'm sure you could find them a little cheaper today. I have these hooked up to a sbl value and IT ROCKS.

😛 😛 My upgrade will be to those Pro-medie badboys, but that will cost a little more than 50.

I just ordered the ACS33 system from OfficeMax for $49.99 minus the $10 gift certificate I got from Priceline for buying 50 gallons of gas at $1.10 a gallon. I save $14 on the gas, I paid $10 for the gift cert., equals $44.99 for the speakers. Free shipping. Mistakes I made... The gal I work with gave me the wrong zip code for the area I usually buy gas. I have to drive an extra 2 miles to get the $1.10 price. The cheapest price for those speakers on pricewatch is $30 plus $12 shipping. On the other hand, I bought other stuff I needed at the same time, so I got free shipping. Glad to hear the speakers are good.

I have both the PC Works and the Altec Lansing ACS-33. The only drawback to the Altec Lansing is that the wire connecting the satellites is pretty short, only about 4 feet long, so it limits your separation. The PC Works give you about 15 feet of wire between the satellites, as well as a remote volume control. My boys think the ACS-33's sound a little better and I think the ACS subwoofer is a little stronger than the PC Works. Overall, I would say it is a tossup. Either set works great, IMHO.

I just bought some TabTech LCS-2422's (Woofer and 2 small speakers) amazing.

Sounds great to my ears. I don't listen very loud and everything is clear. Not bad for about $60 from CompUSA.

The smaller 2114 (i think) didn't have enough midrange to suite my tastes.
