I decided to watch alot of tv during the next couple of months with Thanksgiving and Christmas break. I've never really watched MASH but I watched a couple of episodes and actually found it very funny. Can anyone suggest one of the better seasons to rent from Blockbuster? Thank you.

Just start with season 1 and work your way up. It doesn't really get bad until the later seasons when Radar leaves.

Season 1-4.

After that it got stupid and preachy.

Fike, What was wrong with season 1? Some of the best episodes come from season 1.

I don't know how to describe it except to say that they show seemed less coherent than it was in the 2-4 seasons. I agree that it got preachy in later seasons. Although I still like the whole series. I think by the later seasons it was more of a family show that you watched because you cared about the characters, but from a pure fun point of view, the first seasons were better.

In honor of the late Robert Altman EVERYONE should rent the movie version of M*A*S*H this week.

MASH always ruled man.

Its revolutionary. Its a shame we don't have talent like Altman anymore.

Shows have become so watered down and one dimensional - pretty much CSI - etc. etc. no one really looks at the real issues anymore.

R.I.P. Robert Altman

Fuk 24, yea I said it.

In general, I agree with you. There are a couple of classic Winchester episodes, though.

Yup. A lot of people don't seem to like the transition from the Blake/Burns era to the Potter/Winchester days, but I actually think the shows from about 1975-1978 saw the show at its height and included a mix of casts from both eras. Once Radar left was when it stopped focusing on being a sitcom.

Yeah, the older ones with Col. Blake were more lighthearted than the later ones with Col. Potter. The one episode with Col. Flagg and the poker game was a classic.

The later episodes were good, but harder to watch as the show got more serious.

I actually liked them both. Frank was great and you couldn't help but like him. But Winchester could at least give as good as he got sometimes. It got old sometimes watching Frank getting endlessly beat up on.

Did anyone see the original movie?

LOL

Its hilarious, the later parts of the series with the controversial stuff was closest to the original content.

yeap.

I have always loved the show. but it was not just the same once Radar left the show.

though i didn't mind Potter/winchester. it was good to have someone that was the opposite of the others.

MASH is still one of my favorite shows to watch (even though i am only 32!)

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.

The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin, but...

A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
"is it to be or not to be?"
and I replied "oh why ask me?"

'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you choose.

Yea only watch seasons 1-4

/sarcasm

Heh, I got you beat by a year. I'm 31. :) This and Barney Miller was one of the shows that I watched with my Dad growing up.

My favorite Potter moment was when he put down his Jeep like he would a horse.

The best Winchester episode was when Hawkeye and Honeycut were secretly switching out his pants for various sizes to make him think he was losing weight, and then gaining weight. They played him like a fiddle.

Seasons 1-4 are the funniest (four is probably the funniest because Frank goes batsh!t insane) and the rest of the episodes are just really good.
