To make a long story short I had a case of the dumbs this past weekend and set a box on the hood of my Mazda as I was moving things around in my garage. The box started to slide and left quite a few fine scratches in the clear coat.
So now I need to buff out the scratches and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a good compound or compound kit to use?
I might also want a rotary buffer to go with it.

Recently I went to a little caesars drive thru window and scratched my bumper up on the yellow pole they have sitting by the window. Their drive thru was designed horribly and you have to pull up to the window in such a way that if you have a truck or SUV you're never going to make it. Anyways, I used some Turtle Wax Polshing Compound http://www.walmart.com/ip/16888959?w...l5=pla&veh=sem

I used it with some terry cloth towels and just rubbed it from side to side quickly with a decent amount of pressure. It took a few applications but got rid of all of the scratches and yellow paint. I was thinking I would need a rotary buffer for sure, but saved myself 30-50 bucks just doing it with regular terry towels.

If you have access to a random orbit (dual-action) or rotary polisher then I'd recommend Meguiar's 105.
