there was this movie that came out in 89 or early ninties that had Samuel L. Jackson in it. it wasnt so much horror as it was sci fi.
it was about a alien craft that crashes in water or something -- cant remember the exact details. althought it might not be the best scifi-horror movie ever, its pretty nice
i totally forgot the name ... hehe
edit: nevermind
its Sphere and it came out in 98 *i was a bit off but its a good movie to see*

are you people smoking crack? sphere was not scary! (and i read the book as well). any movie where the "monster" turns out to be all in your imagination or your worst fear is not scary. this is the equivalent of "it was all a dream..." which is pure cheese.

pretty darn close. Although the original "alien" is a classic.
couldn't think of a better one.
the knock off "sphere" was pretty decent. As was "prince of darkness" and there is still this one from the late 70s/early 80s that I cannot think of. Something about a deep cave hidden in a castle that a girl let's evil escape and he slowly builds strength.

That doesn't mean the MOVIE wasn't scary, just that the ending was a complete let down.
IMHO, that was a good movie handicapped by tying itself too closely to a mediocre book.

You're thinking of "The Keep", which wasn't that bad for its time.
