Best s-video out card right now?

I want to get a HTPC setup and my current television only has s-video so I would like to try and find a vid card that creates the best picture, if possible.

THanks.

The s-video quality on my 9500pro and 9800pro was better than the quality of my GF3, but those are the only ones I have experience with.

256mb version of a 9600pro (or 9800pro for that matter) is generally just a waste. Get the 128mb version if you want a 9600pro. If you're going to spend $120, I'd say spend a little more and get a 6600gt or 9800pro.

Agreed 256MB of RAM on a 9600 Pro is a waste it might actually be slower because of lower clock speeds, just get the one with 128MB.

Its all dependant on so many factors that you wont get a straight answer. Some will say that ATI is better others will disagree. I have found that the average ATI card has OK quality whereas nvdia card go from bad too superb depending on make. My current card is a galaxy 6800 and its much better than my previous AIW 9800 (which was grainy, washed out and had big gaps top and bottom of screen). All I would say is that nvidia cards are generally easier in a tv-out only config whereas an ATI would sometimes needs to be manually switched to s-video output via a shortcut key.
